Tour Historical Homes At The Twig’s 78th Historic Alexandria Homes Tour

The Twig's 78th Historic Annual Alexandria Homes Tour will take place on September 28th from 10 am to 3 pm in Old Town Alexandria. The walking tour will feature several of Alexandria's finest 18th and early 19th century homes located in Old Town. Patrons will learn the historic pasts of these homes and learn more about the community and its evolution as a vibrant, livable community. Enjoy Fall On The Waterfront At Portside In Old Town Fall Festival

The City of Alexandria comes alive this fall with the annual Portside in Old Town Fall Festival to be held at Waterfront Park in Old Town Alexandria. The event will be held on October 12 from 1 to 7 pm. Patrons at the event will be treated to a day of live music, maritime history, live demonstrations and activities for the kids.  The Alexandria Seaport Foundation Apprentices will demonstrate boat building techniques and knot tying skills from the Providence. Patrons can also explore the history of Portside from the Office of Historic Alexandria which shows the archaeological findings of 18th century ships which were uncovered along the waterfront. Local food, beer and wine will be on sale from local vendors. The neighborhoods of Old Town and Del Ray will come alive on August 10th and 11th at the 10th Annual Alexandria Summer Sidewalk Sale. The event which is led by Visit Alexandria in partnership with the City of Alexandria, the Del Ray Business Association, Old Town Boutique District and Old Town Business will see a showcase of over 50 Alexandria boutiques offering summer merchandise at discounts of up to 80 percent. 17th Annual Alexandria King Street Art Festival To Held In Old Town Alexandria

The 17th Annual Alexandria King Street Art Festival will be held on Saturday September 21st and Sunday September 22nd at 220 King Street in Old Town Alexandria. The historic King Street will be transformed into a world class outdoor art gallery where art lovers can come and discover spectacular paintings, life size sculptures, jewelry, photography, ceramics and more. The annual event will feature festival booths lined along King Street between Washington and Union Street with over six blocks of artwork by more than 200 artists from the US and abroad. With more than $15 million in art been displayed visitors can purchase one of a kind wares and meet the artist behind the work. All are invited to attend this popular two (2) day annual event. The Friendship Veterans Fire Engine Association (FVFEA) will be hosting its Annual Firehouse Festival at The Friendship Firehouse Museum, 107 S. Alfred St Alexandria on August 3 from 9 am to 2 pm. The Friendship Veterans Fire Engine Association is an organization which focuses on fire fighting history and fire safety. The Annual Birthday Celebrations of the United States and the City of Alexandria will be held at Oronoco Bay Park on the Potomac Waterfront at 100 Madison Street Alexandria on July 13 from 6 pm to 10 pm. The event will mark the 243rd birthday of the United States and the 270th birthday of the City of Alexandria.
