What Can You Enjoy At Chinquapin Park?

Chinquapin Park is located at 3210 King Street in Alexandria. During World War II the site of the park was known as Chinquapin Village, a war housing development for Torpedo Factory workers and an emergency facility for the United States Navy. The park still features some remnants of the neighborhoods. In 1971 the property was acquired by the City of Alexandria and was later opened as Chinquain Park by former Mayor Charles E Beatley. Ruby Tucker Park is a neighborhood park located at 3500 Jefferson Davis Hwy in Alexandria. In June 2011 the park was dedicated to the "Queen of Lynhaven" Ruby Tucker. Ruby Tucker was an active advocate for her Lynhaven neighborhood until her death. She served on the Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority for 12 years while caring for foster kids throughout her life. Joseph Hensley Park is a 21.66 acres park named in honor of the late Joseph Hensley, a former Director of the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities in Alexandria. The park is located at 4200 Eisenhower Avenue and features facilities for everyone to enjoy. The park features softball fields, soccer field, picnic area and a park shelter with grill. It is used by the Adult Sports Leagues, the Bishop Ireton Varsity and Junior Varsity Softball Teams as well as the Alexandria Soccer Association.
