The New Team to Follow in DC Sports

The DC area is known for its sports teams. The city has everything to offer, football, baseball, hockey, soccer, and basketball. In recent years the high light of the town has been the Capitols and Nationals, both making runs into the post season. Starting to make a rise in recent years are the Washington Wizards, gaining more attention and brining bigger names to the city. The Washington Wizards will be the team to watch in 2016. With recent additions to the team and a new mentality on the court the Wizards have been able to begin to make a name for themselves in the Eastern Conference. Returning star point guard, John Wall, has been taking the team in a new direction under the leadership of head coach, Randy Whitman. They have also added stability in the locker room with the presence of veteran players like Drew Gooden and Alan Anderson. The future is also looking bright with three good rookie draft picks including, Bradley Beal, Otto Potter, and most recently Kelly Oubre. This season will be as competitive and exciting as DC basketball has seen in years. The Wizards have taken the steps needed and should be expected to be seen deep in the post season. The Wizards will soon be the next great team of DC.

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is located in Chantilly, VA on 12,000 acres of land 26 miles from downtown Washington, DC. Dulles' Main Terminal opened in 1962 and since then Dulles has become a major hub for domestic and international air travel with eleven domestic legacy and low fare carriers and 22 international carriers which provide air service throughout the world. Flights operate from midfield concourses A, B, C and D and Z-gates connected to the Main Terminal. The Airport is currently in the midst of a major construction program called D2, Dulles Development, which includes the expansion of Concourse B, a new runway which will open in 2008, and an automated people mover system called AeroTrain which will open in 2009. The airport is connected to the region’s highway system via an Authority-operated, 16-mile Airport Access Highway (called the Dulles Toll Road) dedicated to airport users.

Did you know that this booming metropolitan county exceeds the total population of seven American states and is the most populous region among city areas in not only Virginia, but also Washington? In fact, Fairfax County is home to a whopping 13% of its state’s total population.

What is it about this Northern Virginian county that caused an estimate of 1,015,302 (as of the April 2008 consensus) to make this part of the country their dwelling place? Formed in 1742 from the northern part of Prince William County, and named after Thomas Fairfax, 6th Lord Fairfax of Cameron, this county is bordered by Potomac River and friendly neighboring regions such as Arlington County, Alexandria, Falls Church, Loudoun County and Prince William County. Studies conducted have shown that most of the adult citizens, who call Fairfax County their home, are four-year college degree holders and a good number of them have reached even higher educational attainment. Research has also shown that, aside from being the first county in the US to achieve a median household income of six figures, Fairfax also has the second highest median household income (next to Loudoun County) among counties with 250,000 or more residents. With those statistics in mind, potential residents can have some level of assurance that they are living among some of the best citizens the nation has to offer. It can also be a plus that they’ll be able to rub elbows with the county’s upper class society.

Newseum — a museum dedicated to news

The federal government is driving demand for office space, according to Jones Lang LaSalle’s annual report on federal real estate procurement.
